MacOS Catalina 10.15.5 introduces battery health management in the Energy Saver settings for notebooks, an option to control automatic prominence of video tiles on Group FaceTime calls, and controls to fine-tune the built-in calibration of your Pro Display XDR. The update also improves the stability, reliability, and security of your Mac. The Catalina install files will start to download. The installer file will be multiple GB. Big Sur is 12.6GB, for example, so expect downloading to take a while. If you have another Mac handy, try the download there. Back up to external storage back up again to other external storage, boot Recovery with Option-Command-R, wipe, install Catalina, and migrate in your files, apps, and settings. I’d clone the boot device to external storage as one of the two backups, as that can be booted. Install macOS 10.15 Catalina. After downloading macOS 10.15 Catalina, the installer will begin on its own and launch automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade and start using macOS Catalina. In order to make sure that the internet remains constant, prefer using LAN. Cable internet doesn’t face fluctuations due to signal discrepancies.

5. Restart your router and give it a respite of 5 minutes – Most internet connections come with a dynamic public IP. Therefore, it’s advised to restart your router. 6. Restart your device to delete temporary files – Sometimes unfinished update files can also take up more space. These files can also hamper the other update processes. 7. Delete the partially downloaded file before internet or device restart – A partially downloaded setup file can also cause the download to fail.
